Biography

Sabino de Bari is an Italian composer and guitarist  based in London.  He graduated in composition cum laude and in classical guitar. 

His music offers a synthesis of his wide musical and expressive research where the composition and the improvisation coexist through the balance between irrational intuitions and logical processes.

His composition “Nubi”, for string orchestra, has received the honorable mention at the “Premio Sinopoli” 2017 composition competition while, his composition “Gloucester” for orchestra, has won the third prize of the “Premio Abbado” composition competition (2015 Edition).

Sabino’s music has been performed in Italy, England, France, Austria, Spain, China and Mexico. 

He released the CD “Pas de Chat” (2010) for solo guitar, “Voices” (2012) for ensemble (DODICILUNE Edizioni). Among other collaborations as a guitarist and a composer, he has contributed to the realization of the album “On the cloud” by Diana Torti  (SLAM PRODUCTIONS). Among his published works, the guitar piece “Valse des Troix Oisons” has been included in the “14 Selected Pieces By New Composers” collection, presented by Leo Brouwer for the “Roberto Fabbri Signature Series” (Ed. Carisch). 

As a performer, he is interested in the interpretation of is own music as well as in improvisation. He has been performing concerts as a soloist as well as playing in an ensemble and he has been involved in several international music festivals and contexts. 

As an educator, Sabino de Bari has been teaching in various music institutes in Italy and London. He has published his guitar method for children “The sounds of the guitar” where creative skills, as well as performing skills, are taught through exciting original pieces of music which include extended techniques for a fun approach to music learning.
